Can you buy an extra seat on an airplane for your pet (inside a carrier of course)?
I refuse to put my cat in the cargo area. Are there any airlines that let you buy an extra seat for your pet?
Oh, and it's in the US - Tulsa to Los Angeles.
I know it's not too far to drive but the company is going to give me free plane tickets if they hire me.

yes you can buy two adjoining seats (large people often do this for comfort), your cat would have to go under your seat during take off and landing for safety but once you are cruising altitude you can put the carrier on the extra seat. but you don’t have to buy the extra seat and waste you money, your cat can come on the plane and stay under your seat with no problem and it’ll save you money especially since you will have to pay a pet fee (usually $100 each way) anyway.
depends on the airline. My puppy came on an airplane, but was shipped on a special cargo type of comparment (this was when she was sent from the breeder).
I looked into taking my cat somewhere and southwest and jetblue wouldn’t do it so I had to drive. My roommate took her cat with her tho and I know there are some places that do it. If security has tightened since the christmas attempt I wouldn’t definitely call rather than just trusting answers on here.
Some airlines will let you buy an extra seat. Almost all airlines will allow you to stow a carrier under the seat beneath you. There are special "soft" carriers that are designed to fit under the seat in front of you. It actually works better, because the case is more secure there than it would be in a seat, and it’s darker so your cat probably won’t panic so much with all the activity around. I have this for my cat: http://www.sherpapet.com/page.asp?id=43&name=Delta%20Deluxe%20Pet%20Carrier You can get that at most pet stores. Also my vet got me pills for my cat… kitty sedatives… kept her calm all the way from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh.
Yes, providing that you keep it in a carrier.
You can, however Michelle gave some incorrect info – pet carriers are to remain stowed under the seat and your animal in it.
